Surely, we all know, as we walk down the street reading our phones, that almost all of us are seeking more. More of everything. In fact, a Country Western songs states: “I want faster horses, younger women, older whiskey and more money.” We are all on some kind of quest.

Jesus says: "Look for the Kingdom of God before anything else." Great idea, but how to do that? We can’t even agree on what “The Kingdom” means.

There is an answer and it is surprisingly easy.

I had the opportunity to ask Pandit Gopi Krishna the standard question one would ask one of the truly Enlightened souls of the last century. “Gopi Krishna, what do I need to do to be Enlightened?”

I had no idea how he would answer, so I was prepared to wear a certain color, repeat a certain mantra, or do any number of unique practices. I was surprised when he looked me right in the eye and said: “Just this. Every day, as often as you can, think about God, and God will take care of everything else.”

That was 35years ago, and I left that encounter with The Pandit realizing that with all my fancy education and extensive experience, I had never found a simple path.

And here it was handed to me in the gentlest way. Here was something I could understand and perhaps even master. Late on that October day in 1983, while working in my dark room, I committed to following what Gopi Krishna advised.

And here is what I have learned in the past 35 years. It makes no difference what you think about: Where does God Live? Does He have cocktails every night at 5? Where? Who are His best friends? Does He like basketball of football? Is He a Dallas fan? What is He doing in the middle of this crisis where America is treating our neighbors and their children so unlovingly? Is He going to come down and whip us for being so unloving?

It makes no difference what you think. The point is that as you repeatedly think about God, you open a channel for God to speak to you. And sure enough, He does.

The truth is that God wants to help you grow, to more fully express the spark He placed in you, knowing that over thousands of lifetimes, you would mature and finally realize and express the one truth that God is Love, you are Love and that is all there is.

He knows your needs and He guides you, ever so slowly, to the very places and experiences that fulfill your every need, the needs your soul requires to grow quickly.

And suddenly you discover that while you have been surrounded by anxious seekers for everything under the sun, God has guided you, personally, to all the things you need and some of the things you want. Your soul has grown.

My advice to you is: Think about God as often as you can, and God will bring you everything you need. Simple.
