Over the past few days, floodwaters have inundated the Highland Lakes, Austin's main water source, with mud and silt, slowing down the city's water treatment process and forcing water restrictions. On Tuesday, city officials warned that the boil order currently in place could last a handful of days.

Austin officials have called upon residents to tamp down water use as treatment plants struggle to maintain supplies for basic needs and firefighting. The goal, city officials say, is for each of us to cut personal water usage by 15 to 20 percent.
One of the easiest ways to cut back on water use is to take shorter showers. To this end, we've created this 40-song quick shower soundtrack on Spotify. The vast majority of these songs run less than two minutes and some will get you in and out of the wash in a minute and 30 seconds.
Our list is eclectic and a bit unwieldy, covering everything from rock to rap, from country to soul. If you're a lover of classic tunes, perhaps you want to jump in and out of the shower to the Rolling Stones' "Don't Lie to Me," Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" or the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." (Our colleague Peter Blackstock notes, most songs in the Beatles' '62-'64 catalog run less than two and a half minutes.) Prefer a rowdier shower experience? How about getting your wash on to Wu-Tang's "Hood Go Bang," Fishbone's "I Wish I Had a Date" or the Descendents' "Everything Sux."
If you want the girls to run your shower world, we've got the Queen Bee, Beyoncé's, version of "You Don't Love Me," Janelle Monae's "Dirty Computer," Lizzo's "Be Still" and St. Vincent's "Actor Our of Work." And if you want to keep it local, we've got that covered too, with tracks from Sweet Spirit, Daniel Johnston, Spoon, Grupo Fantasma and more. In short, whatever your taste, there should be something on this list to make your speedy shower sound better.
Thanks to all our friends on the social medias who contributed tracks to this list.
