Some of the best in Austin’s pizza and high-end Italian games are meeting in the middle.

Via 313 and Nickel City owners Brandon and Zane Hunt are partnering with Juniper chef-owner Nic Yanes and Nickel City partner Travis Tober to take over classic Hyde Park cafe La Dolce Vita (4222 Duval St.).

The group will rebrand the business Uncle Nicky’s, which will be a casual Northern Italian cafe and bar serving sandwiches, pasta specials, salads, cocktails, beer, and wine, along with some special Northern Italian bites.

“We are excited to put fresh energy into this space that has been beloved by the Austin community for so long,” Yanes said. “We have assembled a great team with alot of experience to bring this Northern Italian cafe to life.”

La Dolce Vita will close this month following a run of more than 20 years. The Hunt brothers began their pizza empire with a trailer on East Sixth Street (one of the best in town), and have since expanded to three restaurants and two trailers, and they also operated the awesome neighborhood bar Nickel City with Tober. Yanes, a veteran of Uchi, has steered his sophisticated Juniper to a regular spot on the list of the Top 10 restaurants in Austin (the 2018 version of which drops Sunday).

The team hopes to open Uncle Nicky’s, which will be open from morning until midnight, in January. Keep an eye on their progress on Instagram and Facebook.
