Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, actress Zoe Saldana, rapper Wyclef Jean, actress Sasheer Zamata and journalist Maria Shriver are just some of the featured speakers announced Tuesday for the 2019 South By Southwest Conferences and Festivals.

Blockchain swami Joseph Lubin, founder of ConsenSys and co-founder of blockchain platform Ethereum, will be a keynote speaker, joining the already announced Shirley Manson and Lauren Mayberry (Music), Marti Noxon (Film), and Kevin Systrom with Josh Constine (Interactive).

ACLU executive director Anthony Romero will be joined by Zamata, comedian Ike Barinholtz and actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") in a session called “Activism, do it for the Culture,” which highlights how the ACLU can engage an activist 21st century population.

Jarrett, who worked in President Barack Obama's White House, now is a senior adviser to the Obama Foundation, serves on several boards, is a distinguished fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, and wrote the upcoming book “Finding My Voice: My Journey to the West Wing and the Path Forward.”

Former Fugee Wyclef Jean is working on a new project, “Wyclef Goes Back to School,” which is a collaboration with students he met while touring the United States and visiting colleges across the country.

Journalist Maria Shriver will likely be discussing journalism and her 2018 book, “I’ve Been Thinking … Reflections, Prayers and Meditations for a Meaningful Life.”

Songwriter Ross Golan will also be speaking, as will CNN president and occasional Donald Trump tweet-subject Jeff Zucker, who has been president of CNN Worldwide since 2013.

There’s also a whole session on the Apollo missions, what they mean and what we can learn from them for a possible trip to Mars. That session will include Apollo 16 astronaut Gen. Charlie Duke, former Apollo-era NASA flight director Gerry Griffin, Johnson Space Center deputy director Vanessa E. Wyche and “Fault protection lead” Bobak Ferdowsi.

SXSW Conference programming is organized into 25 tracks divided between Interactive, Film, Music, and Convergence, presented in a variety of session formats. Attendees will receive primary access to programming associated with their badge type but now also enjoy secondary entry to most other SXSW events. Many of the panels incorporate a variety of cultural streams.
