The popular Manor Road sports bar Haymaker is the latest locally based concept to plan a location at the quickly expanding Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, on the heels of now-open Tacodeli, Second Bar + Kitchen and others. Haymaker's new location, maintaining its homey neighborhood bar vibes, is expected to open in early 2019.
Haymaker takes the place of Earl Campbell's Sports Bar across from Gate 24, according to a construction update posted to the airport's blog. The airport has been in the midst of a multi-million dollar facelift, a major component of which is the addition of more food and drink purveyors at the terminal, including Haymaker. Earl Campbell's is now closed to make way for the renovations that will result in Haymaker.
The sports bar will have more than 30 draft beers, open-faced sandwiches on Texas toast and its much-loved poutine (French fries covered in gravy and Wisconsin cheese curds). Plus, expect the 1,645 sq. ft. industrial space to have decor that celebrates Austin sports — particularly the UT Longhorns. There will also be a stage for live music, a bar and booth seating for up to 74 people.
