"Handmade" at Dougherty Arts Center. Astronomy on Tap. Learning about the cosmos and all manner of out-of-this-world subjects has never been so fun and accessible. October’s talk brings a new round of topics, such as why statistics matter in the study of star formation. Movies in the Park. The Austin Parks Foundation's movie series, which encourages locals to explore the city's many green spaces, continues with a rain-date screening of a Robin Williams classic, "Hook," about a grown Peter Pan and the consequences of forgetting his childhood. Banger's Oktoberfest. It's Banger's favorite time of year: three days of spaetzle, oompa bands and malty goodness. The festivities will kick off with a ceremonial gun salute and free firkin of Live Oak Brewing Oaktoberfest and include activities such as hammerschlagen, a yodel blitz, stein hoisting and more. Rock the Park with Jackie Venson. KUTX has teamed up with the Mueller neighborhood to deliver a family-friendly concert featuring singer-songwriter and blues guitarist Venson. Pfall Chili Pfest. Downtown Pflugerville's signature fall event features a chili cook-off and tasting, live music, a jalapeño-eating contest, kid's area and the Heat Wave Car Show with classic cars, hot rods, convertibles and more.
