A new destination this year for Project ATX6, a rotating cast of Austin musicians who represent the city at music festivals abroad, is Folk Alliance International at Montreal's Fairmont Hotel in February 2019. That hotel is famous for hosting John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 "bed-in for peace," and it's also where they wrote the song "Give Peace a Chance."

In getting ready for the trip, this year's Project ATX6 cast — Cory Reinisch, Carrie Fussell, Nnedi Nebula, Georgia Parker, Michael Booher and Jacob Jaeger — spent an evening at Arlyn Studios last month with Austin roots-rock group Band of Heathens recording "Give Peace a Chance." Joined by a few members of Austin's School of Rock plus a couple of Project ATX6 alumni, they knocked out a live version of the tune with video cameras rolling.

Other stops on the Project ATX6 itinerary this time around will be Halifax Pop Explosion in Nova Scotia in mid-October and the Quest Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam, in late November.

On Sunday, Oct. 7, the Criquet Clubhouse, 1603 S. First St., will host a free Project ATX6 kickoff party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring music from Reinisch's band Harvest Thieves and Parker's band Big Cedar Fever.
