One of the brightest stars in Austin's hospitality world ascended to even greater heights recently, when industry publication Wine Enthusiast named McGuire Moorman Hospitality vice president of operations June Rodil its sommelier/beverage director of the year. Rodil, who has a long history in Austin hospitality that included Uchi, Congress and Qui before joining the MMH empire, earned the title of Master Sommelier in 2015, making her one of fewer than 10 such professionals in Texas. Wine Enthusiast praised Rodil for her dedication, passion and business acumen.

“June is a force in the industry and such a strong voice for growth and professional advancement,” fellow master somm, Austinite and global beverage buyer for Whole Foods Market Devon Broglie told the publication. “She sets the example for the responsibility of sommeliers to step up and contribute so much more to a hospitality experience than simply managing a wine list. She is truly a leader among peers.”

The honor comes at a busy time, as MMH plans to open Joann's at Austin Motel this week, and on the heels of another recent award. Jeffrey's earned the title of Best Medium-Sized Wine List in North America by World of Wine.
