There will be beer, charcuterie and unusual wines.
There's one important thing to know about a new neighborhood wine bar opening early next month in Steiner Ranch: Sloan + Parker aims to be family-friendly.
The owner of Sloan + Parker, a Steiner Ranch resident named Katie Koran, wanted a place close to her home where she could take her kids while enjoying a glass of wine and has opened the wine bar as a comfortable lounge serving beer, charcuterie and other snacks, and wines that include unusual offerings such as biodynamic and organic varieties, according to Eater Austin. You'll be able to take wines to go, too.
"In Austin, specifically Steiner Ranch, she was constantly on the look for a place where she could grab a glass of wine and work, or read a book, or meet up with friends. Even more, she wanted a place she could go with her kids for a nice glass of wine and feel welcome," according to the Sloan + Parker website. "After a series of highly non-scientific community polls, she realized she wasn’t the only person craving exactly this sort of place. So, she did what any good neighbor would do and decided to create it."
Sloan + Parker, at 2900 North Quinlan Park Rd., takes the place of Kawa Asian Kitchen, according to Eater.
Koran's plan is to have a wine club up and running in 2019 at Sloan + Parker, which she named after her kids (Sloan and Parker are their middle names). There will also be education classes, mommy night out events and live music. But if you're just stopping in for a quick glass of bubbly during happy hour, that's OK, too.
"We are your other office, a kid-friendly space, an intimate venue to host a fantastic party, the adult-beverage education center, and a place to meet fantastic wine and beer makers. It is for mommy-only-night-out and mommy-stuck-with-the-kids night out," according to the website.
Sloan + Parker is slated to open in early November. Keep an eye on the wine bar's social media pages for a more specific opening date. For more information, visit sloanandparker.com.
