Another Bridget Dunlap bar is shuttering: Bar 96 plans to have one final party this weekend before closing up shop, although a new bar (albeit not one from Dunlap) will take its place, according to Eater Austin.
The farewell party, from 2 to 5 p.m. July 9, will have drink specials, DJ beats, a tattoo artist and a dunk tank that might even offer the chance to dunk bar maven Dunlap herself, who has established an empire of local watering holes and restaurants in town starting with crown jewel Lustre Pearl.
Her company, Dunlap ATX, owns the two locations of Lustre Pearl, as well as Clive and Container Bar on Rainey Street, Parlor & Yard on West Sixth and combination eatery and creative arts venue Collide ATX on East Sixth Street. Most recently, the Dunlap project Trackside, a sports bar, shut down without notice — the third attempt of Dunlap ATX to make something successful out of the 507 Calles St. spot, which was also restaurants Mettle and the short-lived Ophelia.
