UPDATE: Broken finger for ‘Broken Halos’ singer Chris Stapleton

1:11 p.m. June 2 UPDATE:  Chris Stapleton has broken his silence on his tour postponement, revealing that it was a broken finger that caused him to cancel the shows. 

In a status update posted to Facebook Thursday night, Stapleton said that he suffered a broken bone and a detached tendon in his right index finger and is in the process of recovery. 

“The doctor is hopeful that with some physical therapy I will be playing guitar again soon. Right now, I can't possibly give you guys the show you deserve. I always want to give you my very best,” Stapleton wrote.   “ There is little in this world that I enjoy more than getting to make music with all of you night after night. Thank you for the privilege. Your support and understanding through all of this lets me know now, more than ever, I have the best fans in the world.”

Chris Stapleton announced on his website early Wednesday morning that the next three weeks of his "All-American Road Show" tour will be postponed.

Stapleton's Austin date at the Austin 360 Amphitheater in October remains unaffected, as of now.

The concert dates include stops in California, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. 

Brothers Osborne and Lucie Silvas were scheduled to open the California shows. Anderson East and Brent Cobb were scheduled to open the Southern and Midwest dates.

In addition to the postponed shows, Stapleton also announced he will not be performing at the CMA Music Festival on June 11.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Hold on to your tickets for now, and stay tuned for updates. Thank you for your patience and support," the statement from Stapleton's team read.

No other reason was given for the postponement. Stapleton has canceled shows at the last minute before due to vocal strain.
