Did it hurt. When Angel Olsen fell from heaven?
Cushioned by her leisure-suited bandmates and her own soft but full, really full, voice -- probably not.
At last night’s Austin City Limits taping she was just as “sweet and different-sounding” as I remember and even slightly more lovely to watch. But maybe it’s just because I was sitting closer.
Her set list featured a mix of favorites from “My Woman” and “Burn Your Fire for No Witness,” in between a lot of the playful deadpan she dons in place of a halo:
- “Stay clear, kids. In life and liquor.” On making a mistake by mixing gin with tequila, while also drinking it.
“I want to be inside you.” In response to a fan’s “I love you.”
- “She’s been here a long time. She doesn’t need me.” On the makeup artist who put “just the right amount” on Olsen prior the show and earned herself a song dedication.
Olsen previously sold out two nights at the Mohawk and reportedly put Eric Webb to sleep at a 2015 SXSW show.
