Celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Dazed and Confused’ with a ‘School’s Out’ pool party Memorial Day weekend

Alright, alright, alright, it’s 2018 and that means it’s the 25th anniversary of Richard Linklater’s cult-classic “Dazed and Confused.”

The JW Marriott is hosting a School’s Out Party May 27 (the eve of the last day of school at Lee High School, a.k.a. the day the movie takes place) and continuing with ongoing activations throughout the summer.

The pool party will take place 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets to the public will be available for $20 and will be free to attend for hotel guests. Check out the details here.

Look for a DJ spinning Dazed-type music (but will they play any Zeppelin, which is famously NOT in the movie?) and themed cocktail and food menus will feature throwback offerings. (Really hoping they draw from this gallery of amazement.) Play a “Dazed and Confused” trivia game. A portion of proceeds from tickets and themed cocktails and food will be donated back to support Austin Film Society.

“Dazed and Confused” hit theaters Sept. 24, 1993. Expect a lot of yammering about the classic movie here and elsewhere all over Austin media.

Strap in, crank “Slow Ride” and make sure you and your loser friends get those Aerosmith tickets. It’s the top priority of the summer (in 1976).
