Academy Award-winner Kenneth Lonergan will be honored at this year’s Austin Film Festival as the 2017 Distinguished Screenwriter.
The writer-director picked up the Oscar this year for Best Original Screenplay for “Manchester by the Sea (which he also directed). His credits include “You Can Count on Me,” and “Margaret.” He co-wrote of “Gangs of New York” and “Analyze This.”
Past screenwriter honorees include Nancy Meyers, Eric Roth, and Steven Zaillian.
The festival takes place Oct. 26 to Nov. 2.

“Fresh off the Boat” writer Kourtney Kang
Texas writer/director David Lowery (”A Ghost Story.” “Pete’s Dragon”)
