ILYSM Ep. 11: Prakash Mohandas on bringing ‘Disco Deewane’ to life in Austin

If you love Bollywood, you need to know about Prakash Mohandas, the local choreographer behind “Disco Deewane,” a show taking place Sept. 16 at the Travis County Expo Center that will feature more than 100 performers. In our latest episode of “I Love You So Much,” Mohandas explains how he has put together such a large production and why it’s different than any Bollywood production you might have seen.

Also in this episode: food freelancer Graham Cumberbatch and Addie talked about the joys of a good toaster oven in a segment on gadgets, which is part of Addie’s Year of Gadgets series in the Austin360 food section.

Local performer Adrian Villegas chatted with Tolly and Omar about his one-man comedy, “Barrio Daze,” a show that continues through the end of next week.

In our Webb Report segment, we asked Eric Webb about the most powerful moments of covering Hurricane Harvey on social media, and in A Toast, our recommendations that we share at the end of every episode, transportation writer Ben Wear shared his love of the Texas Rangers’ ballpark in Arlington, which will be replaced in coming years.

A special request for ILYSM listeners who have been around for an episode or two: We are always on the hunt for Austin cold opens − you know, those intros to the show where people talk about what keeps Austin near and dear to their hearts. If you want to send us one, all you have to do it record about 30 seconds of yourself on the voice memo feature of your phone and email it to You could also call us at 512-445-3672 and leave a voice message.

Channel your inner Matthew McConaughey and go with what your gut says is what connects you to Austin. Keep it short and to the point and end with your name and “This is ‘I Love You So Much’.” We’re not StoryCorps (yet), but recording everyday Austinites talking about their love of this place feels important in an era where we spend so much time speaking via emoji and GIFs. Thanks ahead of time if you decide to submit something!
