Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath grounded flights in and out of Houston for several days, with airports finally beginning to reopen Tuesday.
Omete Anassi, an artist and recent college graduate from Houston, told Buzzfeed that his parents were among those stranded and unable to return home during the storm. They were in New York helping his sister, Kerubo, prepare for her graduate program at The New School -- so his dad made the best of it and took the opportunity to learn a thing or two about his daughter’s school.
Anassi told Buzzfeed that his dad, Enock, was curious about Kerubo’s classes and wanted to see what her classes were like (he’s a professor himself) so he decided to follow her to class. He even got a syllabus, introduced himself to the class and quizzed his daughter on the information.
"Kerubo told me to get out," he told Buzzfeed, "but the teacher said 'he can stay.' ... Then she said 'Welcome to my oral history class.'"
Kerubo wasn’t as amused.
But she’s not the only student whose parents got stuck with them at college -- as evidenced by this commiserating student who responded to Anassi’s tweet.
Anassi told Buzzfeed his family’s home in Houston was fortunately not flooded, and his family is hanging out in New York City until they can get back home.
