Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches has plans to start brewing late this year and will eventually add house beers to the mix of local and regional suds currently on draft.

After half a year satisfying our carb cravings with Czech pastries made in-house and a variety of draft and packaged brews, Batch Craft Beers & Kolaches is opening a brewery of its own.

The two co-founders of the East Austin hangout, Noah and Josh Lit, purchased the building just south of Batch and are retrofitting it into a 3 to 5 barrel brewhouse, according to Austin Beer Guide.

And they’ve hired a veteran of one of Austin’s best breweries — farmhouse ale-focused Jester King Brewery — to helm the beer program. John Snyder will make a variety of beers, from wild barrel-aged styles to hoppy pale ales and IPAs. Batch, which currently has a 12-tap draft wall, plans to have 4 to 8 house beers on at a time.

Josh Lit noted in the Austin Beer Guide story that Batch’s brewery will focus on doing a lot of collaborative brews, not just with other breweries, but with farms, restaurants, artists and others “to build a sense of community.”

So far, Batch is in the middle of the licensing process to become legally permitted to brew beer, but the brothers hope the brewing side of the business will have kicked off by the end of this year.

Already, Batch won’t be the first brewery to come to Manor Road: Just down the street is the newly open Oddwood Ales, focusing on wood-fermented ales, thin New Jersey-style pizzas and arcade games.

Batch is located at 3220 Manor Rd., near Airport Boulevard. For more information, visit batchatx.com.
