Food & drink events include Antonelli’s, Banger’s and Tiki Week

Bars all over Austin will celebrate Tiki Week from June 23-30. The event, which will feature special rum-based drinks and events at bars like Peche, Drink. Well. and Contigo, is sponsored by the United States Bartenders’ Guild. For a full list of venues and events, visit Texastikiweek.com.

The Austin Food Blogger Alliance hosts The Big Chill on June 26 at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The event will feature cool food, cold desserts and chilled drinks to welcome summer. Participating restaurants include the Carillon, Dolce Neve gelato, NadaMoo!, Noble Sandwich Co., Soup Peddler Real Food & Juice Bar, St. Philip, Thai Fresh, Trace and more. General admission tickets cost $65 ($50 for AFBA members), with proceeds benefiting Meals on Wheels. There will also be a silent auction to raise money for Meals on Wheels. Last year’s AFBA Cupcakes and Cocktails event raised more than $8,000 for the ARC of the Capital Area. More information at austinfoodbloggers.org.

Antonelli’s Cheese Shop in Hyde Park (4220 Duval St.) teams with stellar American prosciutto producer La Quercia next week for two pig-centric events. The ABGB (1305 W. Oltorf St.) will host a ham, cheese and beer tasting on June 27 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40. Antonelli’s will host a ham brunch at their cheese house on Jun 28 at 10 a.m. The meal will feature four cured meats, sparkling wine, Easy Tiger bread, preserves and a selection of cheeses. Tickets are $45. In addition to the two events, Antonelli’s and La Quercia will combine for special menu offerings at Bufalina, Apothecary Café & Wine Bar, Coal Vines and Trace. Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden (79-81 Rainey St.) hosts a four-course dinner paired with the award-winning Avery Brewing Co. of Boulder, Col. On July 8. The menu will feature dishes like snapper ceviche and spiced camel sausage that will be paired with eight different Avery beers like the barrel-aged sour beer Rufus Corvus. Apothecary Café & Wine Bar (4800 Burnet Rd.) launches a summer wine dinner series this week, with a five-course wine-paired Italian meal tonight. The series continues every third Tuesday through the summer, with wine representatives and Apothecary chef Albert Gonzalez teaming for dinners focused on French (July 15) and Spanish (August 19) cuisine and wines.
