The Contemporary Austin has just announced several free professional development programs for artists starting in Jan. 2014.

All of the programs require an application procedure.

Crit Group: An instructor-led group critique program that also includes some career basics: writing an effective artist’s statement, photographing work, applying for grants, residencies, and public art projects, what to expect from curators and galleries, etc.

On Feb. 8, the museum will host a Creative Capital Workshop on “Funding Your Work” led by artist Aaron Landsman.

And the Visting Lecturer Studio Visit program continues. Open to artists living in Austin and the immediately surrounding area (Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties), the program sets up studio visits with the visiting curators and arts professionals who the museum hosts for various lectures.
