Chicago-based theater troupe Manual Cinema brings its unusual brand of artistic expression to the Long Center this week. “Lula Del Rey” is described as “a mythic reinvention of a classic coming-of-age story inspired by the desert landscape and the music of Hank Williams, Roy Orbison, and Patsy Cline.”
Manual Cinema uses vintage overhead projectors, multiple screens, puppets, actors, live feed cameras, multi-channel sound design and a live music ensemble to create a completely different kind of theater experience.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13-14 and 10 p.m. Sept. 14; get more information and tickets on the Long Center’s website.
