Menuhin competition coming to UT

The University of Texas will be the first host in the United States for the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists.

The competition between some of the world’s best violinists under the age of 22 and 10-day festival happens Feb. 21-March 2, 2o14. Concerts, master classes and community activities are on the roster.

And to wrap it all up, the closing concert — which is open to the public — will feature the acclaimed Cleveland Orchestra, touring to Austin for the first time since 1976. The concert, conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero will soloist Arabella Steinbacher, takes place at 7 p.m. March 2, 2014, at the Long Center.
