KMFA Classical 89.5 FM is going a little local this holiday season, with several broadcasts of Austin choral concerts.

Listeners can hear Handel’s “Messiah” as performed by two outstanding Austin choral ensembles — Ensemble VIII and Conspirare.

Esemble VIII’s performance of the complete “Messiah” airs at noon on Dec. 22.

At 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve you can hear the Christmas portion of “Messiah” performed by Grammy-nominated Conspirare with the Victoria Bach Festival Baroque Orchestra.

Also on Christmas Eve, listeners can contrast the traditional “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King’s College” as its performed live from Cambridge airing at 9 a.m. with that with Ensemble VIII’s outstanding recent concert of the same piece, airing at 6 p.m.
