No, bells didn’t go off and a shower of balloons didn’t fall on the one millionth visitor to the Blanton Museum of Art.
But the attendance clicker at the UT art museum did click past the 1,000,000 mark last week, according to Blanton officials.
That’s one million visitors since the Blanton opened in 2006 in its current and much larger complex. Previously, the museum occupied the space in UT’s art building that’s now home to the UT Visual Arts Center.
Now, the Blanton is comprised by the 124,000-square-foot Michener Gallery building and the 56,000-square-foot Smith Building.
