With delicacy and precision, Austin artist Stella Alesi renders her vision of the natural world from an intriguing variety of perspectives in her compelling paintings.
Alesi presents two series of new work at Wally Workman Gallery in an exhibit opening Oct. 5.
In her “Botanicals” series, Alesi captures small, beautiful moments of Texas’ flora and fauna with an almost hyper-realistic style that’s nevertheless tempered by a soft focus, not unlike a photograph.
And in her new “Mandala” series, those botanical portraits and still lives become a more symbolic representation of the cyclical nature of life and our interconnectedness to all things.
“Stella Alesi: Speck.”
Opening reception: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday Wally Workman Gallery, 1202 W. Sixth St.
Exhibit continues through Oct. 26.
