Austin Chamber Music Festival: 5th Annual Gay Pride Concert

For the fifth consecutive year, the Austin Chamber Music Festival is presents a free concert that celebrates the contributions of gay and lesbian composers to the world of chamber music.

This year’s program features chamber works composed by Karol Szymanowski, David Del Tredici, Pauline Oliveros, Ben Stonaker, Lowell Liebermann and Russell Reed.

Featured will be three songs from Del Tredici’s song cycle “Gay Life,” among them “Personals Ads,” a setting of a poem by Allen Ginsberg and “After the Big Parade,” also a setting of a Ginsberg poem.

Performers include bassoonist Daniel Chrisman, clarinetist Jon Guist, flautist Timothy Hagen, baritone Phillip Hill, harpist Vincent Pierce, and pianists, Jim James and Russell Reed.
