Yuyo Peruano, the Peruvian restaurant from the El Chile Group, has closed permanently due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Manor Road eatery from chef Maribel Rivero and her brother, Carlos, had been open since 2017. In a 2019 review, American-Statesman dining critic Matthew Odam gave Yuyo a grade of 7.5 out of 10.

"Introducing Peruvian food with a Texas flair to Austin was a labor of love for Maribel and me. However, this pandemic environment has proven insurmountable for our developing concept," Carlos Rivero said in a statement.

Maribel Rivero, a James Beard Award nominee, still offers recipes and cooking classes at her Cocina Maribel website (cocinamaribel.com).

El Alma and El Chile, also part of the El Chile group, are currently offering takeout, delivery and dine-in service. Casual spot El Chilito is offering takeout and delivery.
