Since moving here a few years ago from her native Ireland as half of the duo Beat Root Revival, Andrea Magee has been one of Austin’s busiest musicians. In addition to Beat Root Revival’s frequent local shows and their recurring tours opening for Brian Wilson, Magee helped organize the traditional-Irish-music outfit Ulla last year. She’s also a ringleader of the girl-jam group PAACK, known for their Monday happy-hour residency at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul.

Now she has a solo project in the works. Austin360 is premiering an animated video for her new single “Floating Heart,” released this week. Magee will celebrate with a livestream event at 5 p.m. Friday on her Facebook page to benefit Frontline Foods. Guests taking part in the event are Ben Jones, Chris Gage, Christine Albert, Dave Scher, Harry Magee, Paige Dechausse, David Jimenez, Cari Hutson, Ray Prim, Pat Byrne, Kelly Green, Hunter St. Marie, Ray Sisters, Barbara Nesbitt, Violet Lea, Nick Boettcher and Amanda Darnell.
Magee says the song is “about having a conversation with you. Often we look out and ask everyone around us what we should do, how we should feel, and overlook the inner monologue and voice that is sometimes screaming the answers we need. I was lost (maybe I still am), but I could always hear a faint voice saying ‘It’s going to be OK.’ On the very day I wrote this song, a heart-shaped leaf floated past my feet and gave me the push I needed to address what was going on in my life. Together we can get though it, but usually it starts from within; this song is a gentle reminder of that.”
