In 2016, Austin singer-songwriter Sara Hickman announced she was essentially retiring from a career in music that stretched back to her 1980s beginnings in Dallas. She’s mostly stuck to that since then, occasionally resurfacing for special projects and events.

The pandemic has motivated another such project, and it’s a doozy. "Sarathon," a livestream starting at 7 p.m. Friday at facebook.com/SaraHickmanFans, will run for 24 hours straight, concluding at 7 p.m. Saturday.

On the Facebook event page for the livestream, Hickman says she’ll be performing "songs of hope, courage, love, truth, whimsy and peace." There’s no admission charge for the livestream, but Hickman says she’ll dedicate a song "to the person of your choice" for anyone who donates $10 via Venmo (SaraHickman3) or PayPal (superelf@sarahickman.com). Part of the proceeds will go to the Central Texas Food Bank.
