In less than a month, the March madness of the South by Southwest Festival and Conference will be upon us. On Wednesday, event organizers released the lineup for three free outdoor shows on the Ladybird Lake Stage.
Highlights include headline performances from German folk duo Milky Chance on March 19 and Nashville singer-songwriter Margo Price on March 20.
On March 21, Voto Latino and Steve Madden will present a massive "Selena for Sanctuary" tribute jam, featuring performances by Carla Morrison, Victoria La Mala, Nina Diaz and more backed by a house band led by Ozomatli’s Wil-Dog. Chris Pérez, Selena’s widower and former guitarist, will take part in the tribute. His own band, the Chris Pérez Project, has a slot on the evening’s bill, which also features an appearance from local Latin-funk powerhouse Superfónicos.
Toronto R&B/pop artist JP Saxe and electropop duo Overcoats are part of the March 19 roster. The March 20 lineup also includes rising singer-songwriter Soccer Mommy and local folk-rock super group Band of Heathens.
The shows, which are open to the public without any credentials, take place March 19-21 at Vic Mathias Shores. Gates open at 4 p.m. daily. Get more information at sxsw.com.
