Since opening in October, Nixta Taqueria has made waves for its exciting approach to a simple staple of Mexican cuisine — tacos. Now, the East Austin restaurant has teamed up with a downtown brewery to create a couple of beers that complement the flavors you‘ll find at Nixta.

Nixta worked with Central District Brewing to develop the Roasted Coconut Stout and the Champurrado Stout, both of which debut at the taco restaurant on Feb. 14 before they go on tap at the brewery. They will be served alongside Nixta’s Valentine’s Day menu as an optional beer pairing, according to a news release.

"With this collaboration, we were really trying to develop beers that complement the flavor profiles found at Nixta. For example, the Roasted Coconut Stout pairs wonderfully with the restaurant’s Coco Rico paletas," Central District’s master brewer Adam Duley said in the release.

The second beer features champurrado, or Mexican hot chocolate, so you can bet that one’s a divine pairing, too.

Nixta’s special Valentine’s Day menu will include a whitefish ceviche tostada, a crispy dessert taco made with dulce de leche ice cream and a mole negro short rib taco. The beer pairings will be available with a $5 donation to local nonprofit New Leaf Agriculture, which connects refugees to sustainable farming operations.

Already have Valentine’s Day plans? (Nixta doesn’t accept reservations, but they will be necessary at restaurants that do accept them for Valentine’s dinner. Seats on this romantic night fill up fast.) Not to worry: On Feb. 17, Central District will have the two collaboration beers on offer for the first time starting at 4 p.m., when Nixta hosts a pop-up at the brewery. A dollar from every stout purchased that day will benefit New Leaf.

It’s not the first time Central District, less than a year old, has partnered with local restaurants to make culinary-minded stouts. In September, the downtown brewery developed dark beers with three of Austin’s top dining destinations as a fundraiser for Hurricane Dorian relief.

Central District is located 417 Red River St.; Nixta is at 2512 E. 12th St.
