Back in 2012, the City of Austin declared Feb. 9 Shakey Graves Day and every year since then, the singer-songwriter also known as Alejandro Rose-Garcia has celebrated with a special hometown concert and a pay-what-you-want music release.

This year, there are two Shakey Graves Day concerts. The first one takes place at the Paramount Theater on Friday, Feb. 7. The window to request tickets for that show has now closed. The second show is on Feb. 9 at Hogg Auditorium. Tickets to that show are now on sale for $45 and $35. There’s a strict two-ticket limit, but we expect them to move fast.

Rose-Garcia describes the shows as extensions of his "For the Record" acoustic tour.

"This is, for all intents and purposes, the first real ’acoustic’ tour I have done of my work, trying to replicate some recordings that were never meant to be replicated both solo and with my band, and simultaneously showcase some upcoming music in a stripped down format," he wrote on Facebook.

In addition to the shows, Rose-Garcia will make his extended back catalog available on his Bandcamp page at a pay-what-you-want rate for three days beginning on 12:01 a.m. (CST) on Sun. Feb. 9.

Half of all the proceeds raised from the concerts and the music sale will be donated to Dalton’s Vision, a nonprofit that engages in community awareness surrounding homelessness issues, provides various supplies, including toiletry items, socks, snacks, gift cards and bus passes and more for those in need all while connecting them to available resources.

Rose-Garcia shared a very poignant story about why that nonprofit is dear to his heart on his Facebook page.
