Austin's most rockin' holiday tradition returns to make merry with new music and surprises to get the party started. Zach Theatre's adaptation of the Dickens classic infuses the traditional Victorian story with a score that spans all genres and eras. Marc Pouhé stars as Ebenezer Scrooge and the Tony-nominated Mary Bridget Davies as Ghost of Christmas Present.
2. Radney Foster at Saxon Pub

A Del Rio native, Foster moved to Tennessee for college and ended up in Nashville, first making his mark in country music with the late-’80s duo Foster & Lloyd. A subsequent string of solo albums included songs that became hits for artists including Keith Urban, the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans and Hootie & the Blowfish. His most recent project, “For You to See the Stars,” is both a book and an album. — Peter Blackstock
3. Heroes Night at the Trail of Lights

The second official night of the Trail of Lights is dedicated to veterans, active military and first responders. Visitors and their families will have the opportunity to write letters to heroes like these and join other activities to pay tribute to first responders’ service. Plus, of course, there’s the trail itself, which brims with 2 million lights and is lined with 60 elaborate displays. New features this year include a new wine bar, the Trail of Flights.
4. Free Holiday Movie: “Home Alone” at Irene’s

Merry Christmas, you filthy animal. Irene’s hosts another holiday movie on the bar’s heated and enclosed patio. Plus, the bar is dishing out free popcorn and “Home Alone”-themed food and drink specials. Costumes and ugly sweaters are encouraged but not required, though there is a $100 gift card on the table for the best dressed. The specials menu includes A Lovely Cheese Pizza, Just for You.
