Now in its 44th year, the Junior League of Austin’s A Christmas Affair is a holiday market that hosts over 200 retail merchants from across the country. Sugary Spines, Leafy Flowers and Other Unusual Desert Adaptations in Cacti. Jim Mauseth gives a presentation as part of a joint meeting for the Garden Club of Austin and the Austin Cactus & Succulent Society at Zilker Botanical Garden. Mauseth has been a professor of botany at the University of Texas since 1975. His research focuses on the modifications that occurred as early cacti evolved and diversified to be the wonderful plants we see today.
