For the past two years, Austin Terror Fest has thundered through the city unleashing blasts of heavy metal, extreme rock and experimental music.
On Tuesday, festival organizers announced plans to expand the event and rebrand it as Oblivion Access. The first round of artists playing next year’s festival, scheduled to take place June 5-7, 2020, include experimental rock outfit Swans, who last played Austin in 2016, and hardcore punks, Converge.
The 2019 festival lineup will feature Lil Ugly Mane, a rap project of Travis Miller, whose 2015 album "Oblivion Access" inspired the festival’s new name. The roster also includes Swedish singer-songwriter Anna Von Hausswolf, on her first U.S. tour and Despise You, a group Austin360’s Joe Gross describes as "one of the all time great ’power violence’ bands" in what might be their first Austin performance. (Power violence is a "very fast and sometimes extremely slow subgenre of hardcore," Gross says.)
After rocking Empire Control Room and Garage and Barracuda in 2019, the festival returns to the Red River Cultural District in 2020, adding the Mohawk as a third venue.
Three-day passes that guarantee access to all festival shows are now on sale for $200 on the event’s Facebook page. Individual show tickets will go on sale at a later date.
