Art

“Drawing Tense.” This exhibition of new work by Lucas Simões — the artist's second presentation at Lora Reynolds Gallery — is all about balance, tension, unpredictability and adjusting expectations. Angular or curved shapes have been cut into blackened steel plates, essentially turning them into elaborate paperclips that pinch, pull and compress his trademark stacks of tracing paper. Opening reception: 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16. Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday through Feb. 1. 360 Nueces St. lorareynolds.com

Art Bash at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches. This night of art is hosted between Batch and Laura Lit's studio (next door, near the Batch Brewhouse). Enjoy abstract paintings by Daniel Hurlbut and Louis Eastman; then head next door to view Lit's figurative oil paintings and sculptures. In addition, Batch Brewery's head brewer John Snyder will have artwork displayed in the hallways. Bird of Paradise will be providing live music and video art as well. 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 16. Free. 3220 Manor Road. batchatx.com
