Two local breweries that have started small hope to celebrate their arrival to the Austin beer scene in a big way with grand opening parties this weekend.

Batch Brewery, the brewing side of Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches on Manor Road, will have opening festivities all weekend starting Friday. Hedgehog Brewing, in Cedar Park, hosts a celebration on Saturday afternoon that may well be people’s first time to the physical space.

Batch Brewery

The co-founders of Batch’s kolache shop and beer bar, Josh and Noah Lit, have turned a portion of the facility next door into a brewery where John Snyder specializes in making table beers, IPAs, barrel-aged sours, culinary beers and, well, sour IPA culinary table beers. These are served only at Batch, at least for now.

Starting Friday, there will be six beers on tap — including, yep, a pineapple table beer and a “ridiculously hopped” IPA — and Batch will give short tours of the brewery upon request. Plus, kolache specials run throughout the weekend, with live music on Friday evening and “The Comedy Batch with Robert Segovia” stand-up show on Saturday night, according to a news release.

Here are the half-dozen beers to expect. Each one comes with a recommended kolache pairing, if desired.

• Galaxies Collide, an ale fermented with cabernet sauvignon grapes, lavender, hibiscus, rose hips

• B.Y.N., a dry-hopped table beer re-fermented with pineapple

• Ha Ha Saison, a 5-grain, Nelson dry-hopped saison with native Texas yeast

• SJ÷FEN, a strawberry farmhouse ale

• Cottonmouth DDH Baustin: IPA hopped with Citra, Columbus and Idaho 7

• Ferus Flower, a wild jasmine pale ale

Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches is located at 3220 Manor Rd. and will be open this weekend 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit batchatx.com.

Hedgehog Brewing

Brothers Chris and Jonathan Harris have come up with various iterations of this family brewery project over the years, but this year Hedgehog has officially taken shape as a producer of “bright, hoppy ales and unique farmhouse beers fermented with wild Hill Country yeast,” according to the Hedgehog website.

Celebrate the launch of the Cedar Park brewery on Saturday at a party that will have eight Hedgehog beers on tap, including the three that have been slowly released over the past few months across Austin: Happy Place, a farmhouse ale with peaches; Hop and a Skip, a dry-hopped farmhouse ale; and Hoptimism, an IPA. There will also be a food truck, live music and swag available.

In addition to the three distributed beers, the Hedgehog grand opening will have these new brews.

• Double Dry-Hopped Hoptimism

• Need For Tweed Scotch Ale with coconut

• Double IPA, limited quantities

• Farmhouse ale with mango and habanero, limited quantities

• Farmhouse ale with pineapple, dry-hopped, limited quantities

The Hedgehog grand opening runs from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. It’s free to attend, but you can reserve your spot ahead of time via Eventbrite. Hedgehog is located at 3200 Woodall Drive, Unit C-1, Cedar Park. (The brewery will not have regular tasting room hours for the time being.) For more information, visit hedgehogatx.com.
