Susan Orlean, perhaps best known for her 1998 book, “The Orchid Thief,” and being played (sort of) by Meryl Streep in the surreal movie "Adaptation,“ discusses last year’s “The Library Book” with Texas Literary Hall of Fame honoree Sarah Bird as part of the Mayor’s Book Club 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Central Library (710 W. César Chávez St.).

“The Library Book” is an ode to libraries and their role in our culture. Get your free tickets to the event on the official Eventbrite page.

Look for discussion about Orlean’s relationship to libraries and how we can develop a longterm appreciation of them.

“The Library Book” will be available for sale at the event, which is open to the public, and Orlean will sign books following the conversation.
