Red, White & Blues 512. This event, about a week before Veteran’s Day, benefits nonprofits helping Austin’s veterans experiencing homelessness. The night will feature live music from Tameca Jones, considered the queen of Austin soul, and more musicians on the indoor stage at Stubb’s. By bringing people together with a music festival, the goal of Red, White & Blues 512 is, in part, to increase awareness about veterans in Austin who need help. “Más Cara.” In her new bilingual play, Krysta Gonzales brings together archetypes of Latina womanhood — with our madres and tias blending with the likes of La Llorona and La Virgen of Guadalupe — to dance, bicker, share chisme, heal old wounds and insist that being “too much” is what makes them just perfect. Now based in Los Angeles, Vortex company member Krysta Gonzales has been working with the Vortex since 2010 as an actor and choreographer. 8 p.m. Nov. 6-10 and 14-16. $15-$37. Ali Siddiq: The Funny Thing About Life Tour. The Houston comedian found his voice behind bars. During his six years of incarceration, Ali Siddiq found a talent for comedy by sharing his funny stories and opinions with his fellow inmates. Now, he’s doing it for wider audiences. But he hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
