Weather may have claimed the 42nd Statesman Capitol 10,000, but you can still get your miles in – and get credit.
Race officials announced Tuesday that, though the 2019 race will not be rescheduled, a virtual race option will be available for registrants who run 6.2 miles by April 30 and submit their time online. Runners can access a link to submit their time via an email sent Tuesday with the subject line "From the Cap10K Race Director: 2019 Cancellation."
Runners who submit their virtual race time will receive a downloadable Cap10K finisher's certificate when results are posted May 1.
Race director Jeff Simecek also said Tuesday that the 2019 race medals will be donated to presenting sponsor Baylor Scott & White Health and that registration fees will not be refunded in order to cover event costs and honor the full donation to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, the 2019 race beneficiary.
