Deep Eddy Pool’s Labor Day Pool Party. There’s no better way to bid adieu to summer than with a pool party at one of Austin’s most beloved watering holes. Bring the whole family to enjoy the Labor Day bash, which will include live music from Reveleros and the Minor Mishap Marching Band, a lifeguarding demonstration, synchronized swimming performances by the North Austin Rivermaids, a water polo demonstration and remarks by Council Member Alison Alter. Free Day of Yoga. Labor Day in Austin means one thing — that you’ll be able to attend free yoga classes at a variety of participating studios. The official kick-off session will take place at 8 a.m. at the Umlauf, where you can immerse yourself in the rejuvenating sights and sounds of nature while enjoying gentle hatha, but you don’t have to limit yourself to just one yoga class. Bey-bor Day at St. Elmo Brewing. In honor of Beyonce’s birthday the day after Labor Day, St. Elmo is once again releasing the beer Bey, a honey ale brewed by the ladies of the South Austin brewery using locally sourced honey. Ten percent of the day’s sales will go toward the Girls Empowerment Network, a local nonprofit that promotes self-esteem and skills in young girls. Esquina Tango’s White Labor Day Tango Night. Native Hostel is hosting a fun tango night featuring instruction from the capable dancers at Esquina Tango. The event will start with an introductory lesson to authentic Argentine tango — no experience or partners needed — followed by two hours of social dancing. Soundwave Weekender: Labor Day Edition. The W Austin hotel’s popular summer pool party series isn’t over yet. The Labor Day installment will run all day to help you cool down and feature DJ beats by Bird Peterson and special guests. Anyone can lounge poolside at the Wet Deck for Soundwave, but it’s free for hotel guests only. There will be an additional Soundwave event on Sept. 9. Kath has been on Comedy Central’s "Roast Battle" and PBS’s "Stand Up Empire" and was a correspondent on the CW’s "ATX Uncensored(ish)" when she was making the Austin comedy rounds. She is now based in New York and is one of the funniest self-proclaimed "mean tweeters" I know.
