Dog Day at Zilker Botanical Garden. We haven’t quite hit the dog days of summer yet, but the always dog-friendly Zilker Botanical Garden is hosting a special day for canines and their people to enjoy together nonetheless. Independence Brewing’s Summer Sesh. Austin might be landlocked — and Independence located in a warehouse — but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a beach-themed bash at the brewery. Independence Brewing is throwing an all-day party featuring live music, Torchy’s Tacos and a variety of water activities. There will be a water gun battle, a massive water balloon fight, a Hawaiian shirt contest, a dunk tank, a slip ‘n’ slide and more. Austin Flamenco Festival: "Forasteros." The centerpiece of the inaugural Austin Flamenco Festival is this performance piece showcasing the beautiful folkloric music tradition of southern Spain. "Forasteros" is a flamenco suite created by fest director Genevieve Guinn and musical director Gonzalo Grau that takes audiences on a journey — the same one that all flamenco performers take when they completely immerse themselves in the art form. Uchi’s Vegetarian Tasting Dinner. At a restaurant with such a heavy sushi focus, vegetarians might feel as though there isn’t much for them to enjoy. But one of Austin’s best eateries, period, is offering them a 10-course meal they won’t soon forget. The all-vegetarian menu of shareable plates, inspired by classic Asian flavors, features both one-night-only specials and samplings from Uchi’s creative vegetable nigiri options.
