Fareground’s Summer Backyard Cookout. The downtown food hall is kicking off the official start of summer with a cookout that will benefit Emancipet. Grill specials will be available for the first 150 guests: the first 50 guests receiving a free plate of hot dog and sides and the subsequent 100 guests paying $5 a plate. Plates will feature sides provided by Fareground’s vendors, including potato salad from Easy Tiger and charred broccoli from Contigo. Cool Summer Nights at the Bullock Museum. The Bullock Museum has launched a new after-hours series taking place one night each month this summer. The evening will feature interactive activities, a community lounge, music, food, cocktails and free access to all galleries. Cool Summer Nights kicks off this weekend as a salute to rodeos, stock shows and all things western in celebration of "Rodeo! The Exhibition." Fun Stop 5K & Fest. This race, formerly known as the Keep Austin Weird Festival, bills itself as the slowest race you’ll ever run, possibly because it is the only 5K in downtown Austin that allows alcoholic beverages on the route. William Chris Vineyards’ Annual Hog & Goat Roast. Popular Hill Country winery is hosting this meaty extravaganza at its scenic property lined by vineyards. In addition to the food, the afternoon at William Chris will feature lawn games, live music from Austin-based band Three Dollar Bills and, of course, plenty of wine. (Wine is not included in the cost of admission; you can pay by the glass or by the bottle.) Trailer Food Tuesdays. Austin’s love affair with food trucks is all-enduring and will be on full display with this returning summer tradition. Trailer Food Tuesday, a monthly event through August, features a new set of food trailers each time. This month, expect good bites and sips from participants like Garbo’s Lobster Truck, Chutney Bites, the Best Wurst, Cold Ones and more.
