Thursday: Richard Buckner at Cactus Cafe. A sort of modern-day rambling-troubadour who’s called a lot of places home — including Austin at one point — during his quarter-century career as a recording artist, Buckner has made quite a few memorable albums for labels including MCA, Overcoat and more recently Merge. Cast early in the alt-country crowd, he soon proved to transcend such boundaries with songs that often connected more with indie audiences. $18-$20. 8:30 p.m. 2247 Guadalupe St. cactuscafe.org.
