Pecan Street Festival. The biannual Austin tradition returns with 300 arts vendors, 30 food concessions, three stages of music, kids rides and a petting zoo, and so much more. Cinco de Mayo Hot Pepper Eating Contest. Are you prepared to step up to the plate and eat a bunch of hot peppers? The Cesar Chavez Street bar Craftsman is hosting a contest in which participants will have to eat each pepper, from mildest to hottest, and whoever can finish the hottest one first wins. (And you have to eat the entire pepper for it to count.) The winner gets a trophy, a $50 gift certificate to Craftsman and two tickets to a local distillery tour. Derby Day at Domain Northside. It’s a Kentucky Derby party for the whole family.
