What’s better than a huge dance club that offers different themed nights throughout the week, from LGBT-friendly dance parties to ‘80s night to all-night emo and pop-punk singalongs? Nothing, according to Thrillist.

Austin’s Barbarella was named the top Texas pick in the publication’s ranking of the “wildest, most fun bars in every state.”

The list cited the themed nights as one big reason for the top billing, as well as the club’s size (and its connection to Swan Dive next door), its cheap drinks and the fact that even after last call, you can stay and dance the night away.

The Red River staple has been voted Best Place to Dance in the Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin awards for eight years running, and the weekly TuezGayz event has been voted Best Club Night/Theme Night four times in the same awards.
