Monday: St. David’s Day School Benefit at St. David’s Historic Sanctuary. Frequently a prime venue for quality music during South by Southwest, St. David’s Episcopal Church has forged strong connections to the city’s musical community. A handful of them — Kelly Willis & Bruce Robison, Monte Warden & the Dangerous Few and Dave Insley — show their support by playing this fundraiser for the downtown church’s nonprofit preschool. $40. 7 p.m.; silent auction precedes the music at 6 p.m. 301 E. Eighth St. stdave.org.

Tuesday: Patterson Barrett CD release at Saxon Pub. Originally from the D.C. area, Barrett moved to Austin just in time for the first wave of the cosmic cowboy era, playing on Jerry Jeff Walker’s self-titled 1972 album among others. His mid-’70s band Partners in Crime introduced fledgling Americana talents Buddy & Julie Griffin. Buddy appears on Barrett’s new album, “Give ’Em What They Want,” alongside old pal Gurf Morlix on the looking-back track “3 Young Alleycats.” $5. 8 p.m. (Come early for guitarist David Grissom’s no-cover weekly residency at 6 p.m.) 1320 S. Lamar Blvd. thesaxonpub.com.

Wednesday: Radney Foster at Saxon Pub. A star out of the gate as half of hit-making duo Foster & Lloyd three decades ago — their debut album produced three top-10 country singles — Radney subsequently became a major-league songwriter, penning big hits for Sara Evans, Keith Urban, the Dixie Chicks and others. But he’s continued to make terrific solo records all along, including last year’s “For You to See the Stars,” which inspired a book of short fiction that accompanied the songs. (Now, I wonder if we could get Austin’s own Abra Moore to sit in for the beautiful duet vocal she sang with Radney on his song “I’m In” all those years ago …) $25-$35. 8 p.m. 1320 S. Lamar Blvd. thesaxonpub.com.
