Who need a South by Southwest badge when you’ve got homegrown hero Shakey Graves, aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia? The Austin singer has put together an “immensely weird and complicated” scavenger hunt around town, which culminates in a listening party next week for his new album, “Can’t Wake Up.”
The hunt, called “Tape Quest,” involves some of the singer’s favorite things to do around town: bowling a score of 200 or more, winning first place at Blazer Lazer Tag using the codename “Shakey,” visiting all the moontowers in town, winning an elusive chess game, among other incredibly specific tasks.

The point of completing the tasks, though, is to locate 13 hidden boxes around Austin, which each contain a tape of a track from the new Shakey Graves album and a “one-of-a-kind” mix. The boxes also earn you a record, “some nicknacks” and an invitation for you and four friends to attend a “Can’t Wake Up” listening party at Geraldine’s on Thursday.

Shakey Graves also performs Monday at Antone’s and Friday on SXSW’s outdoor stage. He will participate in a “Beyond the Band” talk Wednesday.
