Outside of Austin, Dripping Springs finally got a theater of its own with the launch of Sky Cinemas in late January. At the time, a beer garden outside the theater wasn’t quite ready — but, as promised, it’s opening in early March.

The Sky Beer Garden, where families and their pets are welcome to relax, opens this weekend with a series of live music shows and tap takeovers from local breweries.

Sky Cinemas is putting a big focus on craft beer and has a total of 36 taps, 24 inside and 12 in the beer garden. It’s located on the north side of the new 14-screen theater, the first (but potentially not last) location of the locally founded brand from creator Bill Banowsky, who is also responsible for downtown Austin’s Violet Crown Cinema.

Starting Friday, the beer garden’s grand opening will feature live acts from the likes of Erin Ivey and Suzanna Choffel, as well as tap takeovers from (512) Brewing, Real Ale Brewing and Austin Beerworks. In addition to the live music, Sun Radio will broadcast live from the beer garden Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
