It has come to pass as many (eventually) thought it would: experts are predicting “Black Panther” will deliver a $235 million-plus debut over the four-day weekend, making for the third highest four-day gross in history.

As Box Office Mojo noted, it is only the fifth movie to debut with over $200 million over its opening weekend.

Just for a little bit of perspective, know that “Justice League” took in $228 million TOTAL over its 16 weeks in theaters.

“Black Panther” is also the largest February opening of all time and the largest President’s Day weekend opening of all time. It also took in $169 million overseas and that is before opening in China or Russia.

It didn’t hurt that reviews have been rapturous (including the Stateman’s).

And folks all across Austin took the opportunity to celebrate this ground-breaking African-American movie to look spectacular. To wit:

From the Alamo Drafthouse at South Lamar:

This is how excited the kids of Texas Preparatory School are to see their private screening of BLACK PANTHER! Thanks to @soulciti512 and @capcitybff for bringing in these kiddos and the 600 other guests this weekend for this awesome experience.
