Tuesday: HAAM Benefit Day Songwriter Tribute to Willie Nelson at Threadgill’s. Hundreds of shows will support the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians all over town on this annual mega-fundraiser day, but this event organized by the House of Songs stands out. Host Graham Weber has brought about 20 local musicians to sing the songs of Austin’s most famous musical visionary, including Monte Warden, Suzanna Choffel, Colin Gilmore, Carson McHone and Jonathan Terrell. Check below for additional HAAM Benefit Day highlights. $10 suggested donation. 7:30 p.m. 301 W. Riverside Drive. threadgills.com. — P.B.
Tuesday-Sept. 16: Austin Music Video Festival. Now in its third year, this festival explores the intersection of Austin’s music and movie-making communities and celebrates the music video as a form of short film. This year’s event kicks off Tuesday with a Video Swim Night at the W Hotel where full-band hip-hop crew Sip Sip will perform and A Giant Dog, Golden Dawn Arkestra and more will premiere new videos. On Wednesday, the fest hosts video retrospectives for Flaming Lips and local artist Christeene at the Alamo South Lamar, and Thursday’s events include a showcase from local label Holodeck Records (which includes members of Survive). There will also be a Video Bike Night — a bike-in movie theater — on Thursday. 5-day passes $40-$85. Single-day $15-$25. See amvfest.com for detailed schedule information. — D.S.S.
Wednesday: Hanson at Emo’s. When Hanson played South by Southwest earlier this year, they revisited the softball complex where an impromptu performance helped jump-start their path to youth stardom. Now in their 30s, the three brothers remain a pop band well worth hearing: Their new single “I Was Born” stands up well to the older favorites they’ll gather on an upcoming greatest-hits album. $35-$40. 7 p.m. doors. 2015 E. Riverside Drive. emosaustin.com. — P.B.
